Parent Auxiliary

Parents are an integral part of the parish and school community in Port Alberni. Parents are encouraged to take part in activities at John Paul II Catholic School. Parents provide the needed leadership for special activities such as socials, fund-raisers, and other community building events. The Parents' Auxiliary acts under the direction of the School Council. Meetings are held once a month.

The purpose of the Parents' Auxiliary is to assist the Principal and School Council in meeting the needs of the school community. These needs are met on three levels:

  • Financial
  • Social
  • Educational

Anyone who is a parent or guardian of a student at John Paul II Catholic School can belong to the Parents' Auxiliary.

Monthly hot lunches are a favourite fundraiser. Others include seasonal sales, raffles, and bake sales. Social events include family potluck dinners, a Christmas shopping day for students, and family BBQs in the fall and spring.

The Parents' Auxiliary uses their funds to pay for school agendas, Winter Wonderland Skating, JPII Achievement medallions, and field trip costs.  Each year a project for fundraising has been selected.  Large purchases include playground equipment.

The parents at John Paul II Catholic School are hard working people committed to helping our school become "second to none". We maintain that our kids are worth it. We enjoy working with one another and invite any and all parents to become more involved in this worthwhile committee.

I feel very blessed and fortunate that my children are able to go to a school like John Paul II. I know they are getting the best education both academically and spiritually.

I like John Paul II because we make friends and we play together.

I like how this school is better than other schools because we have lots of sports and Spirit Days. John Paul II has the best teachers and there is no bullying.
