Parents are an integral part of the parish and school community in Port Alberni. Parents are encouraged to take part in activities at John Paul II Catholic School. Parents provide the needed leadership for special activities such as socials, fund-raisers, and other community building events. The Parent’s Auxiliary acts under the direction of the School Council. Meetings are held once a month.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Parent’s Auxiliary is to assist the Principal and School Council in meeting the needs of the school community. These needs are met on three levels: financial, social, and educational.
Members:
Anyone who is a parent or guardian of a student of John Paul II Catholic School can belong to the Parent’s Auxiliary.
Projects:
The Parent’s Auxiliary enables students to purchase hot lunches (hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza) once a month. Other fundraisers include saving grocery store receipts, soup labels, collecting bottles for recycling, chocolate sales, flower bulb sales, and Christmas card sales. Social events include family potluck dinners, a Christmas shopping spree for students, pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, and end of year barbecues.
The parents in Port Alberni are hard working people committed to helping John Paul II Catholic School be “second to none”. We have lots of fun working with each other and we feel like family to one another. Come and join us today!
